Hi! My name is Lindsey, I work for Inizio, and over the last two months of quarantine, I have found ways to embrace working from home by creating a balance between work, mental health, and leisure. I have gathered helpful insights and tips on how to take advantage of working from home and creating a balance during quarantine!

This series is divided into three parts: balancing work, mental health, and leisure – with all topics addressing #WFH life. This week’s topic is all about creating a mental health balance: giving you insight into how I manage my bad days and what I do to help myself feel better while sharing helpful tips to help you combat your uneasy days – and don’t worry, we all have them!

Balancing Mental Health:

Balancing mental health for me is an ongoing process of leveling out my good and bad days. When I am having a bad day, I let myself feel whatever emotion I am feeling for a short time before I turn that negative energy into journaling, art, exercise, or reaching out to a friend/family member I trust. What has helped my mental health the most has been making time to go outside and enjoy the springtime weather whether it be a bike ride, walk, or going to the park (keeping a safe 6 feet from others of course). Additionally my different friend groups get together once a week to have video chat parties to catch up and play games, something I always look forward to.

What’s important when your mental health is going up and down, especially during quarantine and #WFH life, is to know that you are not alone. Know that countless other people, whether they be strangers on the street or your closest friends and family, are all grasping with these uncertain times and trying to balance out their mental health just as you are – as cheesy as it, we are all in this together!

Tips:

  • Sticking with a weekly routine helps your mind and body adapt to a new schedule while balancing work and leisure time during these uneasy times.
  • Be honest with yourself when you know that you need to take a break from work, a personal project, or tuning into the news. Do what makes you feel happy when you go through these moments and reach out to a close friend, relative, or a therapist.
  • Likewise, have daily or weekly check ins with the people you’re living with, friends, and family. Talk about what they have been up to and how they are feeling – it is important that we take care of each other during these days of isolation.
  • Lastly, enrich your life daily with mood boosting music, podcasts, and exercise. Take advantage of the empty streets and go for a bike ride, run, walk, etc. and enjoy the springtime weather.

Once again this is Lindsey from Inizio, sharing my tips and insight on how I am balancing my mental health during these unusual times and I hope they have inspired you.

Tune in next week to read about how I am balancing my leisure time during #WFH!

Stay healthy and safe out there!
